What a tiring couple of weeks it has been. Does anyone else have a busy/stressful time and as soon as it starts to calm down you end up feeling ill? Well anyways, a little while ago I took a trip to the Bowes Museum in County Durham with my University. I wanted to post about this last week but my Mum unexpectedly ended up in hospital, hence why I didn’t get to post anything. Anyways, she’s feeling a lot better now so I thought I’d share the pictures I took.
The exhibition itself was so much better than I could have imagined.

The sparkle on this dress could only be appreciated in person. You can also tell how luxurious it is because it was one of the few garments behind glass.

This Comme des Garçons garment really took my breath away.

It was such a beautiful stately home which created the most elegant setting, contrasting well with the garments.

I spent the majority of the day in absolute awe of the garments. But a couple of garments caught my attention immediately, this being one of them. To the point where I had to get a selfie. During a-levels, Vivienne Westwood was a big inspiration, particularly the pirate collection. So to see the garment in real life was amazing. I also got to see the other big garment that inspired me a lot during my design was the Alexander McQueen, The Horn of Plenty collection.

Sorry for the shorter post this week, life should resume as normal now and its officially the start of Christmas?! How very exciting…
Lots of Love,
Sophie

Firstly, it was a very tiring weekend. We flew at 6 am from Leeds Bradford airport on the Friday (but I had to get up at 1am to get there in time). On the way back, it was a 9 pm flight on the Sunday, so we really did get the whole weekend.

On the Friday, we were all really tired so we just had a wander around the city.
On the Saturday, my Mum and I spent the morning at the
At this point, we were trying to navigate our way to the castle.

But I always try to get him a humorous gift, so when I came across this I knew I had to include it in this post. My Dad is obsessed with my dog and for work he’s always wearing a tie. Could I get a better gift? Probably not, especially since you can choose which dog you want on the tie. I was surprised at the plethora and variations of gifts UncommonGoods has to offer for men in general.
Is this bad I’m including myself in all of this? Obviously, I don’t buy myself Christmas presents, I just decide to treat myself all year round (oops). I just thought I’d highlight how easy it is to buy for someone like me; books; perfume; makeup and you’re sorted.
There were sooo many temptations when I was scrolling through UncommonGoods and this was just one of them; a Scratch Map. I’ve definitely had my eye on one of these for a few years now. I just find them such a good idea and a great gift.
I’m ashamed to say this is what it was looking like before I managed to get a hold of it all. In all honesty, don’t be thinking this ends up looking like a whole new wardrobe, I’m not that good of a tidy uperer. (not a word? ok.)
Next, it was to tackle the over head bit, I’m sure it has a proper name. Oh wait, its probably just a shelf, nevermind. Anyways, I like to be able to see my shoes and take great pride in my heels I probably only wear once a year. So, I realigned them and got rid of anything on that shelf that wasn’t a shoe.
Finally, I had to have a place to put a couple of my favourite bags. Which had to be in the last available space which was on top of my wardrobe. I have to admit, I’m not the fondest of having things on there, but I really don’t have anywhere else to put them.

(Got to love them Snapchat filters that hide 1 am under eye bags…)
